About Katrina’s Dream
A woman called Katrina died peacefully while a hurricane bearing her name was showing Americans how much liberty and justice poor folk had in New Orleans and in America.
The woman had learned this years before. When the Equal Rights Amendment failed to pass, Katrina Swanson realized that she was being labeled a second class citizen, like all other American women.
An inner city Episcopal priest for 17 years, she knew that poverty limited how much liberty and justice you could get.
In the Pledge of Allegiance Katrina always said, “With liberty and Justice for Some.”
