Next, the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is prime for enshrinement into the US Constitution once and for all. \u00a0The ERA states,\u201d\u00a0Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex<\/b>.\u201d The ERA will empower women, reaffirm the rights of men, and give guidance to the US Supreme Court on matters that will uplift the LBGTQ Community. Your support will make that happen!<\/p>\n
This is where the multiple efforts currently stand:<\/p>\n
- \n
- Congress<\/b>: Katrina\u2019s Dream is continuing to work with members of the US Congress. We are encouraging folks to follow the\u00a0Power of Ten<\/a><\/b>\u00a0script outline in petitioning the Biden\/Harris administration reminding them to keep their\u00a0campaign promise<\/a>\u00a0to pass the Equal Rights Amendment by calling upon the Senate to adopt\u00a0HJ Res. 17\/SJ Res 1<\/a><\/b>\u00a0which will remove the imposed deadline. And mostly importatly keep up their efforts and good work by continuing to \u00a0petitioning Senators in reaching out to their colleagues who have not yet co-sponsored and when it comes to the floor vote \u201cYea!\u201d<\/li>\n
- States:<\/b>\u00a0Folks are on working on getting the remaining 12 states to ratify the ERA. They are Arkansas, Arizona, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Utah.<\/li>\n
- Lawsuits:<\/b>\u00a01.\u00a0Equal Means Equal v. Ferriero<\/a>\u00a0was denied a rehearing this past January in the first circuit. Follow\u00a0Wendy Murphy<\/a>\u00a0on Twitter to get up to speed there.\u00a02.\u00a0Virgini<\/a>a<\/a>\u00a0v.<\/a><\/b> Ferriero<\/a><\/em>\u00a0is on appeal in the courts and\u00a0Virginia AG Miyares has withdrawn from the Lawsuit<\/a>.\u00a0Go to\u00a0ERA Coalition<\/a>\u00a0which has primarily focused its efforts these many months on the amici brief.<\/li>\n

- So it’s an\u00a0\u201cAll on Hands Deck\u201d\u00a0<\/i>dearest ones, the time is now! Get on the Horne petitioning the Senate Chamber to sponsor and vote \u201cYea!\u201d on the ERA. Also please reach out to your faith-based communities. Organize and engage those in District, on The Hill, in Congress, and at the White House. Leave no stone unturned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

- The Gooseberry Team<\/b>\u00a0is in its\u2019 early stages of development.\u00a0 So please\u00a0support this program<\/a><\/b> which was born out of the work of Kamala Lopez of the award-winning documentary Equal Means Equal.

We look forward to seeing folks at\u00a02022 General Convention (Booth #301<\/a>)\u00a0and at the\u00a02022 Lambeth Conference<\/a>\u00a0on July 29, folks will gather to celebrate the\u00a0Liturgy for the Thanksgiving for the Ordination for Women<\/a>\u00a0 crafted by Rev. Katrina Swanson, and Rev. George Swanson, and Rev. Jonathan Appleyard. And was the last service Katrina celebrated before her death.<\/p>\n
