Today, as Rosh Hashanah fades into Yom Kippur&#8217;s call\u2014a day of atonement and new beginnings\u2014I&#8217;m thrilled to expand our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/support-katrinas-dream-championing-equality-and-justice\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">20 for 20: Igniting Equality and Justice<\/a> campaign, celebrating 20 years of Katrina\u2019s Dream. In the Kabbalistic tradition, the Tree of Life maps the divine flow of creation through the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sefirot<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chesed<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (loving-kindness) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gevurah<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (strength) balance compassion with justice. Rooted in the legacy of Katrina\u2019s Dream, founded in 2005 amidst the devastation of Hurricane Katrina to honor Rev. Katrina Swanson, one of the Philadelphia Eleven, the first women priests ordained in the Episcopal Church, we strive for equality, interfaith bridges, creative expression, and transformative action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From a simple memorial, we&#8217;ve grown into a global movement: walking over 7,000 miles from San Francisco to Washington, DC; sparking a movement that led Nevada to become the first state to ratify the ERA in the 21st century, followed by Illinois and Virginia. A Navy veteran who maintained early GPS systems in the late 1970s, she later coded and wrote for LOADSTAR magazine on Commodore computers in the 1980s\u20131990s, and won Prosequest \u201899 in 1999. She also worked as a Las Vegas Teamster, contributing to her diverse professional background. As the program states, &#8220;We the people are calling upon our US Congress&#8221; via simple, one-on-one conversations and calls to the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and now includes the White House Comment Line at (202) 456-1111. It guides participants to contact their Senators and Representatives. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Power of One<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> proves one call can spark systemic change\u2014why women deserve their fair share. This integrates seamlessly with ERA Action&#8217;s lobbying efforts through Katrina\u2019s Dream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Fostering Peace Through Bubble of Love<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marking our 20th anniversary on August 26, 2025, the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bubble of Love<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is our interfaith program launching on Yom Kippur 2025, inviting global atonement and reconciliation. Inspired by Rev. Kathryn Piccard in 2014 during my ERA pilgrimage, it calls us to &#8220;wrap the world in a Bubble of Love&#8221;\u2014with roots in the Jesus Prayer drawing from diverse faiths for healing. Participate by reflecting\/praying, hosting dialogues, acting for justice (e.g., calling Congress for ERA and worker protections, or the White House Faith Office at (202) 456-1414), and sharing with #BubbleOfLove #YomKippur2025. It&#8217;s a deeply personal response and tool to fractures like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Amazon workplace struggles, and the everyday struggles women face without the protection the ERA would provide, proving vulnerability builds strength.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Supporting Resilience Through Widows\u2019 Walk<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As the fifth program under Katrina\u2019s Dream, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Widows\u2019 Walk<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is being developed to honor and empower widows navigating loss while continuing their advocacy for justice and equality. Headed up by Tammy Simkins of Chillicothe, Ohio, from ERA Action, this initiative was conceived in memory of her late husband, Tom Simkins, who stood by her side for over 30 years. Debuting at the 2022 Ecumenical Advocacy Days DC Conference, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Widows\u2019 Walk<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is in its early stages but invites prayers, participation, and support at all levels to create a supportive network for widows in faith-based and social justice communities.
