I\u2019m deliberately tuning out. Today I\u2019m chowing on mac\u2019n\u2019cheese, and a full-on binge of Franklin & Bash\u2014that silly early-2010s show about two rogue lawyers who win impossible cases with stunts, bromance, and zero respect for stuffy courtroom rules. Pure escapism. No commentary tracks, no hot takes, just Mark-Paul Gosselaar in flip-flops and Jared Franklin\u2019s ridiculous closing arguments making me laugh out loud. <\/span>But even as I chuckle at their beach-style Animal House antics, the irony isn\u2019t lost on me. This Super Bowl spectacle\u2014progressive boundary-breaking on one side, conservative \u201ctraditional values\u201d on the other\u2014is the perfect distraction from the one thing both camps keep ignoring: the unfinished struggle for actual, constitutional equality for women based on biological sex.<\/span><\/p>\n Bad Bunny\u2019s performance is celebrated as feminist allyship and anti-machismo, yet the broader progressive framework he represents has blurred the critical line between sex and gender identity. DEI-era \u201cinclusivity\u201d has opened women\u2019s sports, shelters, and private spaces to males who identify as women\u2014eroding the very sex-based protections women need for safety, privacy, and fairness. Keeping women\u2019s sports female-only isn\u2019t transphobic; it\u2019s essential. On the flip side, TPUSA\u2019s patriotic counter-programming rightly pushes back against gender ideology in some areas (like protecting female athletes), but its vision of \u201ctraditional\u201d womanhood often keeps us tethered to subordinate roles\u2014marriage and motherhood first, leadership optional. Both sides are partially sighted and fully blind to the bigger picture: without explicit constitutional protection on the basis of sex, women\u2019s rights remain vulnerable to whichever cultural wind blows hardest.<\/span><\/p>\n Super Bowl Sunday also quietly reminds us of persistent violence against women. The old myth of a massive spike in domestic violence reports has been debunked, but the day\u2019s high-stakes atmosphere\u2014alcohol, crowds, charged emotions\u2014can still trigger real danger in abusive homes. Performative halftime messages won\u2019t fix that. Only strong, sex-based legal equality will.<\/span><\/p>\n That\u2019s why, even on my lazy binge day, I can\u2019t stop thinking about the petition urging Senator Lisa Murkowski to champion Senate Joint Resolution 38\u2014the bill that would finally clear the path to publish the already-ratified Equal Rights Amendment. The ERA would enshrine in the Constitution: \u201cEquality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged\u2026 on account of sex.\u201d <\/span>Simple. Powerful. Overdue<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n Women first. Biological sex matters<\/b>. The ERA protects female bodies, female spaces, female opportunities\u2014without watering them down for gender ideology or chaining them to outdated tradition.
