Katrina’s Dream Delivers Nearly 500 Signatures from Americans to Senator Murkowski, Urging Immediate Action on the Equal Rights Amendment
New York, NY – Today, Katrina’s Dream formally submitted a petition with nearly 500 signatures from Americans to Senator Lisa Murkowski, calling on her to champion the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) by advancing Senate Joint Resolution 38 (SJ Res 38).
The petition delivery accompanies a formal letter urging Senator Murkowski to move beyond statements of support into concrete legislative leadership. The submission follows previous meetings with her Chief of Staff and comes as the constitutional threshold for ERA ratification has already been met.
“We are not asking for more words—we are asking for action,” said Katrina’s Dream in the letter. “Senator Murkowski herself has rightly called the ERA ‘far, far overdue’ and stated that ‘there should be no time limit on equality’ and ‘it is far past time for Congress to act.’ That record now requires concrete leadership.”
The letter specifically requests that Senator Murkowski:
- Issue a bipartisan “Dear Colleague” letter affirming support for the ERA and SJ Res 38, calling on members of both chambers to advance final recognition.
- Conduct direct outreach to at least five colleagues in the Senate and House to build the necessary coalition this session.
Katrina’s Dream is also requesting a brief virtual meeting with Senator Murkowski to align on next steps.
Call to Action
Americans are urged to:
- Sign the petition today: https://c.org/msG9k8Xrqm
- Contact Senator Murkowski and demand she lead on SJ Res 38 and advance the ERA without further delay.
Support for congressional action on the ERA is strong and well-documented, including through former Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney’s nationwide efforts. Further procedural delays are no longer justified.
The letter references President Donald J. Trump’s 2017 Women’s Equality Day Proclamation, which states:
“…resilient women have inspired countless others to challenge the status quo in order to advance the ultimate American value: that all men and women are created equal. Together, we are creating a Nation where every daughter in America can grow up believing in herself, her future, and following her heart toward the American Dream.”
The principle of equality requires action now.
