A Holiday Message from Katrina’s Dream

21st of December in the Year of Our Lord 2021

Dear Friends and Family,

God gives women unique dreams and purposes, like men, they too are uniquely called by God. Just as in the Holy Bible those purposes may not always look like what society expects them to look. For example, Eve the first Woman, Esther the queen, Deborah the judge, Hagar the mother of Ishmael, Jochebed the mother of Moses or Mary the mother of Jesus! And there is Magdalene one of Jesus’s followers who was steadfast in her support who witnessed the crucifixion and the resurrection.

However, the church and society send conflicting messages to women.  These messages are often confusing and discouraging. I have been to places of worship where only men do the talking, and deciding, and are the only recognized authority, and women are instructed to sit quietly with no leadership roles. There is more for women to do than to sit in quiet submission.  I have also been to other houses of worship where women are now leading their congregations and these congregations are thriving. Women are important to the body of believers. And a healthy church empowers its women both within their hallowed halls as well as in the community.

In the beginning, creation was not complete until God made woman.  The Creator could have made her like man from the dust of the ground. Instead, choosing not to make woman from man’s feet as to be below and subservient, nor from his head to be above and dictate, God chose to cleave woman from man’s side creating males and females with purpose and designed as equals.[Genesis 2:21-22]God cast a deep sleep upon the man; and, while he slept, took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that spot. And God fashioned the rib that He had taken from the man into a woman; and brought her to the man.

The church needs to empower women, not treat them as gossips, doormats, or authority hogs” but the authentic, compassionate, strong, thinking beings that they are.

Today’s church needs to send the message loud and clear to women “When God calls you, we will support you 100%!”

God knew that the world and churches and families and communities would work best when all genders utilize their strengths. Women are essential to creating a strong community. With all the pressures and expectations placed on women and especially in this past year during the Covid19 pandemic, many women have and still are suffering and struggling to clothe, educate, feed, and provide a home for their families, as well as care for their parents.  Women are not second-class citizens or inept because they are not a man. Yet, they still do not receive Equal Pay for doing the same job as their male counterparts, do not have unfettered access to healthcare, nor are they guaranteed any rights except that of the right to vote. And party politics have exploited them claiming that they are looking out for their best interest playing them against each other for votes, and sadly women of colour are still struggling, having many barriers to overcome just to have a voice.

Women need to hear messages that affirm their equality. Women need to be treated not as a burden, a petty annoyance, or an afterthought but as “Equal under the Law” enjoying the same rights, responsibilities, and privileges. In the U.S.A. that message, the law, needs to be enshrined in the U.S. Constitution by adopting the Equal Rights Amendment [E.R.A.].

Today/s society, that is the U.S.A., needs to send a loud and clear mess, “Let us pass the E.R.A.!”

Women’s input and creativity make a difference in the home, in the workplace, and in the church. Women have opinions and ideas that the world needs to hear. So do please make your voice heard for no matter your belief system or faith, and no matter from whence you come and no matter what you have done you are important, your story, your life, has a purpose and sharing your story is a beautiful thing.

Here are a few things you can do to empower women.

Join our weekly program to Pass the Equal Rights Amendment held every Friday at 12:00 noon ET.  You can connect with us by computer online or call (909) 318-7381

Do take a moment to go to our Power of Ten page and call Senator Dick Durbin at (202) 224-3121or (202) 224-7703, ask him to hold hearings and to co-sponsor S.J. Res. 1.

Be sure to also call Senator Ben Cardin at (202) 224-4524 and Senator Lisa Murkowskiat (202) 224-6665 asking them to follow the Genesis Approach of ‘going forth and multiple’ in bringing on co-sponsors for S.J. Res. 1, in which they are the lead sponsors, and securing votes when it comes to the floor.  Tell them that “It is time to Pass the Equal Rights Amendment!”

In conjunction with asking your senators to co-sponsor and vote a resounding “Yea!” on S.J.  Res. 1, do please ask your senators to reach out to President Biden in writing and through their political channels and ask him to take all appropriate actions to ensure the publication of Virginia’s ratification (the 38th state to ratify) and the immediate publication of the Equal Rights Amendment.

Then go over to the White House contact page and call the White House Switchboard at (202) 456-1414 and ask the  President of the United States of America Joseph R. Biden, to exercise all powers under his authority to ensure the enshrinement of the Equal Rights Amendment into the Constitution of the U.S.A.

This week’s music selection – “The Little Drummer Boy (Peace on Earth)” performed by Bing Crosby and David Bowie.

Thank you for your ongoing support.  Wishing you the very best and a joyous Holiday Season.  Good health and restored energy in 2022 as you continue your work for Justice against Racism and Sexism.
God Bless Always… Everyone, Everything, Everywhere!

  1. Happy New Year Helene:
I hope that you received my card as I am hoping to send you a few photos such as one of George’s fathers with his dog Marlene in 1959. I met both him and George’s mother. His dad took me skeet shooting in 1958. You are the remaining link to the Swanson’s.
Please confirm your mailing address for me.
    Peace,Love,and Understanding: Arnold
